The Sun Also Sens

Dateline Valletta: Every now and then we feel it right to nod in the direction of our supposed profession as a newspaperman and publish … well, a story. Since things have been quiet, circulation is a bit down, and this could force us to look for some sort of employment that would require work. Can’t have that as Oscar Wilde famously knew. So the very thing is to relay a curious experience that occurred at this really smashing restaurant here in Valletta. It’s run by this Chinese fellow (must have come from Hong Kong) named Sun Yat Sen. The food is unbelievably good, and it has become something of a must for luncheon. Sun - or is it Sen? - provides a little dish of these odd scones after the main course. They’re folded, like a wing, and there is a message inside. What a brilliant idea! However, the messages themselves can be rather cryptic. Mine said today: Supports simultaneously hold. How very strange - it may be that we’ll have to ponder that one for some time to come. Alas, it may well be the last - Sun, Sen?, has decided to return to China. Something about the need to set things in order. We imagine he means the food which is a pity. Surely in China they have many people who can cook like this, but here in Valletta, all we have is Sun.
